Kali Yantra Paintings by Jessica Pederson: Value $50, $60 & $70

Kali Yantra Paintings:

From Jessica Pederson:

i
painted these yantras to act as symbols of protection. they are painted
with acrylic, watercolor, and jacquard pearl ex powdered pigment ~'a
safe, pearlescent, non-toxic, inert powdered pigment'~ on high quality
paper for mixed-media.
the
images of the kali yantra were traced through the use of sunlight and a
window pane, then transferred onto the mixed-media paper.

i
chose to keep the images 2-dimensional because as ancient sacred
geometrical symbols that is how they have been drawn. they do reflect
light, for when one wants to see that, because of the quality of the
jacquard powdered pigment. containing or reflecting light is an
important quality of my work.
the
colors i chose for personal preference and dramatic effect against
white and off-white paper. i tried to create some flow and movement
along the lines of the basic geometry with gradations of colors light to
dark and back to light again. without adding dimensionality, it was my
intention to add a flowing movement within the more static geometrical
design. this way the yantra can speak visually to the one in meditation
upon it.
i
painted the yantras for ornament and to adorn the kali yantra. because
of their intrinsic consciousness, they can be activated with prayers to
kali.

From Daisy Marquis:
Jessica went to art school in san francisco. She did participated a little while back in the project around Black Mountain College that was there on the campus- bunch of local artists.
Yantras are part of traditional yoga- used as tools for meditation and insight. I saw similar Kali Yantras for sale at the Himalayan Institute for $300!
I actually thought they were not as good as Jessica's. She put so much love, time and intention into each one.

Thank you to Daisy Marquis for facilitating this donation!
